And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me - holy is his name." Luke 1:46-49
Any women's ministry will offer great things for you to be apart of. Here at Wakefield we believe all women not only should be a part of this ministry but truly desire the fellowship and discipleship it provides. Sometimes however, we as women tend to shy away from getting involved for whatever reason. Some women believe they may not have anything to offer, others may think..."what if they don't accept me"...or... "my schedule is limited and this particular time does not work for me."
WOMEN!?!?!? Mercy....?
Would you agree, we are soooo emotional and sometimes we actually think too much!!? Well...right? Come on...
The Women of Wakefield want YOU to know that in our eyes, we see each and every woman as A GIFT FROM GOD. We see women as FRIENDS!! We see women as confidants! We see women as fun people to hang with, outside of church. We see moms whose children are the same age and they both need friendships!!! We see single moms who need to know other single moms to discuss their struggles and joys!! We see mature women of the church with more wisdom than we could ever imagine, to encourage the young wife and mother, in a Titus 2 role, !!! We see homeschooling moms who need activities without their children, sometimes. We see women who love to pray and desire a group to pray with corporately. We see young ladies in college or pursuing careers that need opportunities to grow spiritually. We see the mothers of those in college or pursuing a career away from them longing to pray with mothers of the same heart. We see retired women who desire to have a role with the women of the church. We see women excited about missions and await an opportunity to be apart of a missional project. We see women who are leaders, that may not be accepting God's call for their participation in this ministry. We see shy women who may be excited about helping out with something more low key, instead of being in the spotlight. WE SEE YOU!!! And we already love you!!!
Ladies, we submit to you, that you are wonderfully and fearfully made by the Father. He has placed you where you are for a time such as this. We all have a different story and live lives of our own...but the bottom line is...WE ARE ALL WOMEN!!!! WE LOVE JESUS AND DESIRE TO PLEASE HIM!!! We all have "issues", flaws and backgrounds!!! But we see you all as Beautiful Daughters of the King who have gifts and talents that, combined, can have an amazing impact for the Kingdom.
Do you believe God has been mindful of you, His servant? Do you believe He can do great things for you and through you? You will be blessing to so many like Mary...but how? So many opportunities it is hard to decide where to start. Don't be overwhelmed, talk to someone from the committee and let us know what excites you!! What are you good at? What is the Lord revealing to you about serving or participating within this ministry? How is He calling you OUT of your comfort zone in order to experience spiritual growth? We want to know how we can bring the "WOW" to your life!!!! What would you like to see the Women of Wakefield provide for the ladies in this congregation !!!?
Please leave a comment below and let us know!! We would love to hear from you all...so, don't hold back, tell us what you think!!! We are truly...HERE TO SERVE!!!

MEET THE W.O.W. MINISTRY TEAM
Sheila Smith is our Women's Coordinator. Her desire is to serve the women of our congregation through prayer, discipleship, mentoring, and fellowship. God has called her to a specific area within the women's ministry-MOMS! She strives to equip them to train their children in a Christ like way that their home might be managed in a manner worthy of the calling He gave.
W.O.W. is co-chaired by Katharine Ray. Katharine is a home missionary. She and her husband Monty run 40 West Ministries on a full-time basis. As Katharine has received her counseling degree from SEBTS, she has prayed to create "Heart 2 Heart", a mentoring program for the women of our church body. Her passion is to see that each woman developes friendships and accountability partners. She helps coordinate opportunites so these mentorships can begin to mature. The hope is that we will see their bonds with each other and in the Lord become emotionally and spiritually strong.
Lisa Harris is our Events and Outreach Coordinator. Lisa's main goal is to bring the Women of Wakefield together in joyful settings as well as promote meaningful events to provide times of mission minded gatherings to reach women in our area. She longs to encouraging women to open their homes in order to prepare for ongoing ministries within their neighborhoods.
Meredith Cook is our Administrator. She is responsible for the minutes of each meeting and any secretarial duties W.O.W. may need. She sees to it that all announcements regarding the activities for this ministry are available to the women of the church through bulletins, newsletters and other existing mediums. Meredith also faithfully assist Sheila with coordinating the Mom's Together group.
Julie Summers is our Treasurer. God has given her a gift of money management. W.O.W. depends on Julie for funds accountability and allocation. She also oversees collection of payments during paid events, such as the annual women's retreats.
